Practice in the Community in Mission Viejo


The Chivas USA full squad was present at Friday’s ‘Practice in the Community’ event at the annual Soccer for Hope MV Camp in Mission Viejo. The team went through a practice session, met fans, and signed autographs for the many fans in attendance. This was the third in a series of Practices in the Community for Chivas USA, and took place at the World Cup Center La Paz and Marguerite in Mission Viejo, Calif.

"It’s really nice to come out here to Orange County, Mission Viejo to see the community and the kids,” said Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy. “Some of these kids one day might turn into MLS players. I remember when I was a little kid coming out to these events and looking up at the players that made me excited and motivated me to come out, play soccer and get better, and it’s just nice to give back.”

"Es divertido poderle regalarle un rato a la gente, especialmente a los niños. Da un poco de satisfacción poderles brindarle nuestro entrenamiento y dándoles nuestros autógrafos. Creo que es algo gratificante para los niños", dijo el delantero Roberto Nurse.

About 400 of Mission Viejo's West Coast Football Club youth players attended the event at the annual Soccer for Hope MV Camp.

Chivas USA starts a busy stretch of four games in 11 days for the team with a midweek match next Wednesday at the Houston Dynamo, before returning to The Home Depot Center on Saturday, Aug. 23 to play the San Jose Earthquakes. After kicking off its CONCACAF Champions League campaign against Tauro F.C. of Panama on the road on Tuesday, Aug. 26, the team closes the month against Toronto FC at home on Saturday, Aug. 30.
