Chivas USA extended its lead atop the MLS standings with a 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders FC tonight at The Home Depot Center. An own-goal by Seattle’s James Riley and an 84th-minute clincher by Chivas USA’s Chukwudi Chijindu improved Chivas USA’s record to 4-0-1 and extended the club’s undefeated streak to five games.

Following tonight’s win, Chivas USA will hold its second ‘Practice in the Community’ of 2009 tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Montebello High School, located at 2100 W. Bojan Stepanovic also assisted on the goal in his first start with Chivas USA.

Zach Thornton made two saves to earn the shutout, including a point blank stop on a Sebastian Le Toux header just before the first half ended.
