Vaughn exited the match in the 13th minute with a broken nose (re-set in the locker room during the first half) and a gash on his right cheek, after being struck in the face by Dynamo midfielder Dwayne De Rosario's thwarted bicycle kick attempt. The cut on Vaughn's cheek (R) required more than a dozen butterfly bandages:
