Chivas USA Reserves to kick off season Sunday in Frisco

The Chivas USA Reserves arrive Saturday evening in Frisco, Texas, for their first game of the 2008 MLS Reserve Division season, against FC Dallas on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. CT (2:30 p.m. PT), following the first team’s match.

Like the rest of the Reserve Teams in MLS, the Chivas USA Reserves will play 12 matches over the course of the 2008 season (6 home and 6 away). The team with the best record at the end of the season will earn a $20,000 prize.

MLS Reserve Division matches allow for a squad of up to 20 players, which may include players on the MLS team’s roster as well as “guest players” that are registered with U.S. Soccer. For this upcoming game, Chivas USA has four “guest Reserve players”: midfielder Mike Uremovich, goalkeeper Sam Reynolds, defender Daniel Dobson, and midfielder/defender Erik Robert.

Uremovich is a Texan native who attended SMU and George Mason. He also played in reserve scrimmages with FC Dallas.

Goalkeeper Sam Reynolds, 26, from Cal State Fullerton, spent many days in camp during the preseason with Chivas USA.

Defender Daniel Dobson, 24, was drafted by the Kansas City Wizards in 2006. The Garland, Texas native played for University of Memphis as midfielder and defender.

Erik Robert, from Inglewood, California, attended Loyola High School and Saint Mary’s, where he played as left midfielder/defender.

The four players are under a three-day contract.
