Chivas USA, United in Texas Two-Step

Under clear blue skies, Chivas USA and D.C. United scrimmaged this morning on the windswept practice fields of the Soccer International Complex in Schertz, Texas, on the outskirts of San Antonio.

With each club traveling a full compliment of players to the Lone Star State, Chivas USA Head Coach Preki and D.C. United Head Coach Tom Soehn agreed to divide their squads in two and play two matches in one day.

Chivas USA fell 2-1, on goals by Luciano Emilio (35') and Franco Niell (83'), in the morning's scrimmage. (Paulo Nagamura had equalized for the Red-and-White in the 62nd minute.)

The second match between the respective 2007 MLS conference leaders takes place tonight at 8:30 p.m. CT at Byron P. Steele II High School Stadium in Cibolo, Texas, on the matchday 1 of the four-team Texas Pro Soccer Festival. (Toronto FC and the Houston Dynamo face off at 6:00 p.m. CT at Steele Stadium in the first match of the round-robin tournament.)

Full match reports of both games will be available these evening (Central Time) on http://www.cdchivasusa.com/.
